Over month ago ran over a median, to avoid a large plastic object in the road. I hit it pretty hard and blew out both my front tires. Got those replaced and every was fine. A couple weeks ago I was driving home and drove over a speed bump. I was not going very fast, as they were the speed bumps going into my apt complex. After my front tires went over them my car immediately shut off. I had all power to my dash and windows but when i turned my key all the way it didnt make a sound. It didn't crank or even attempt to turn over.
I pushed it into a parking spot and left it there for a few days and when i returned it started up just fine but as soon as I put it in reverse the car died. I assume from the little jerk putting it in reverse causes. I attempted this two more times with the same result. Everytime I put it in reverse it died.
I had it towed to my dad's mechanic who said he "thinks" it's the BCM from the fault codes but isnt 100% sure and that he didnt want to tell me that only to fix it and that not be the problem. I towed it to the next shop only to find out the first mechanic wiped out the fault codes and the car wont start again for them to run it until the codes come up again. Hoever the new mechanic thinks it also may be the BCM but his buddy that used to work for Pontiac thinks its the ECM, based solely on my story.
Has anyone experienced similar issues and does this sound like a BCM problem? I'm clueless when it comes to cars. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
