So, browsed here for a while, finally decided to register. Seems like a quality enough forum to warrant it.
had my 2005 GP l26 for about 5 years and 70k miles now (95k on her now). She's starting to feel worn so its time to start researching some maintenance. Found a lot of helpful stuff here so far.
had the LIM done @ 30k. its slowly starting to use more oil, did a visual inspection and sure enough it has the plastic on there. Got a delco aluminum lim, delco iridium plugs, delco wires, singer high output denso hairpin alternator(these denso alts decrease drag on the alt from what i hear), 180* tstat, bluetooth obd2/torque app, and airfilter. Did tranny and power steering fluids about 10k ago.
Just cleaned the maf/throttle body for the first time last weekend, holy crap was that thing dirty, i honestly didn't expect the increase in drivability that brought. I was having some hot start issues, it would essentially have reduced power below 3k rpms on SOME hot starts. That seems to be gone now, with that.
Bought some penzoil platinum 5w-20 and a fram ultra filter for my next change. Gotta break out the torque app. hopefully the 5w-20 will have enough oil pressure. I'll always use synthetic for its superior start up protection.
right now trying to determine if i'm putting dexcool back in or going with conventional. i already bought a enough dexcool for a flush but i'm a little ocd about putting what'll be the best in there.
Looking to do some speed daddy headers(i'll weld the seams on them), no cat downpipe, new front 02 sensor, and a overkill tune as my next big expenense. Not hugely looking for power, just wanna make the motor happy
A little about me, i'm into loud stereos, i've had multiple 150db+ db(termlab verified) systems and i'm a moderator on a smaller stereo forum. I'm a service tech for time warner cable currently, in the process of going back to school for a doctorate of pharmacy.
