Okay, hello everyone. So since the weather here has started to raise I have also noticed that so has my engine temperature. It runs slightly hot since the weather has changed. Also my air conditioner has started acting up. It will blow cold when the car is in park. However when the car is put in drive or reverse the compressor turns off and on like crazy and the air temperature from the vent turns warm. The system was reading a good charge although a little on the lower side of good. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you in advance for all your help. It will also run funny if I have the radio on.

Your AC pressure is low thus the reason for the off and on action. It needs a recharge. Maybe a small leak.

^^^yup, you probly notice it more in gear (driving) because as the rpm's increase, the suction pressure drops. Then the low pressure switch cuts off the compressor. Then the pressure goes back up and kicks the comp back on.

Okay. Than you guys. Is it really as easy as it says on the bottle to add freon? or would it be best to have it done by a professional? Also would the low pressure make my engine temp run a little high?

you can use those refill bottles from the parts stores. they work, yes its that easy screw it on the line push the button, fill till its in the green on the gauge on the can. done.

but being your low now, it leaked out, so it wont last forever. maybe a week, maybe till next year. in the end, you want to find the leak and fix it, or your dumping 30 bucks a can into it all the time maybe.

    PLEASE BE CAREFUL!

Those cans are nice but they can increase the pressure to an unsafe level which can lead to compressor or line failure. The proper way is to have the car put on an a/c machine. It sucks the system dry and puts a vacuum on the system. Then it applies freon while the pressure stays at a safe level. Just a heads up.

If your system is only a little low, just use the cans.If you get one with a little gaugeface on it, it will show you pressure, read the directions on the can and you wont overcharge it.You only need to vacume the system down if you got air in the system. Its not a big deal.Non-condensables (air) will only get in the system if it is out of freon, or very low with the compressor pulling a vacuume.

Putting a vacuum on the system with the machine removes all the freon from the system ensuring the proper ammount of freon goes into the system. So yes the proper way (and considering the machine is automated) is for it to be pulled down and refilled to spec.

I agree the cans are fine if you use the ones with a gauge.
