Engine light has been on for a while and finally got it checked out at Autozone. It came back with this...

    EVAP purge/vent solenoid circuit condition
    1. Purge or vent solenoids defective
    2. Check connector and wiring
    3. Fuel saturated vapor canister
    4. Failed EVAP vent solenoid

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to fix this? Is this something that would be an easy fix or should I just take it somewhere and let them do it?

I've got the same code. I'm going to my mechanic tomorrow and i'll see what he says and if it works.

Its not to hard to fix and replace.I had to replace both purge and vent solinoids on my car.The purge solinoid is on the upper intake manifold on the backside towards the brake resorvior, with one I want to say 10mm bolt. But make sure you know which one for sure to fix. The vent solinoid canister is connected to the filler tube for gas on the rear drivers side and its not hard to replace yourself, maybe a 30 min job.

This is a big help, thanks. Where did you get your parts from?

Advance Auto because I didn't want to wait,or you could go with Rock Auto to save money. It depends on if you're able to fill your car when getting gas, what I mean is I was having trouble filling up at the pump because it wouldn't start right up.Hope that helps.

Went ahead and changed out the purge solenoid tonight. Did your engine light turn off by itself or did you unhook the battery for a while?

Would either of those solenoids cause my car to have trouble starting?

While replacing my solenoid today there was dirt in the line and solenoid. Is that a good sign that the other end of the hose is undone and thats when i was getting the 455 code?
