Wow so glad I found this forum !! So about my wifes car, Mamas Rocket. 1997 GTP, rare 2door. Just getting the last of a few issues worked out. where I am at . I have the ever present abs lowtire lights on. Replaced the rotors with ne brakes, and cleand the terminals. I can trick" the abs off by restarting the car while I rolling in neutral. .. More issues.. I can hear a groan from the right front hub as I load and unload weight to it by swearving back and forth at 30mph. Jacked it up and found grease spray on back of the tire but the boot was NOT torn. Also It seems to be alot of play in the transmission side of the axle. so the questions
    1. Is the play in the axle normal?
    2. If the hub assy was bad, would it cause the abs light issue to?

    Thanks
    Dwight

The boot on the cv axle can leak grease out without a visible break. For example I'm fixing to replace my drivers side one that's shot and its spraying grease out but there's no rip or tear in the boot. It leaks from where the metal band holds the boot. And yes if the hub is bad it can cause abs light issues. As I've had same problem.

heres some info to help you

    .
Important: Prevent the seals (boots) from contacting the other components in order to prevent damage to the seals (boots).

    1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
    2. Remove the wheel and the tire. Refer to Wheel Removal in Tires and Wheels.
    3. Remove the stabilizer shaft link. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement in Front Suspension.
    4. Remove the front wheel drive shaft nut. Insert a drift or a flat-bladed tool into the caliper and the rotor to prevent the rotor from turning.
    5. Disconnect the outer tie rod assembly from the steering knuckle. Refer Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement in Power Steering System.
    6. Separate the ball joint from the steering knuckle using the J 41820 . Refer to Lower Control Arm Ball Joint Replacement in Front Suspension.

Caution: Do not attempt to move vehicle with drive axle(s) removed from wheel bearing. Wheel(s) could fall off, dropping vehicle to the ground and causing personal injury or damage to the vehicle.
    7. Separate the front wheel drive axle from the front wheel drive shaft bearing using the J 28733-B . The nut can be partially re-installed to protect the threads.

    8. Remove the front wheel drive axle from the transaxle.
      Right Side :

Use the J 33008 , the J 29794 and the J 2619-01 to separate the axle from the transaxle.

      Left Side :

      - Use the frame for leverage.

      - Place a flat-bladed tool in the groove on the front wheel drive shaft tri-pot joint (inner joint).

      - Separate the front wheel drive axle from the transaxle.

    Installation Procedure

    1. Important: Prevent the boots (seals) from contacting the other components in order to prevent damage to the boots (seals).
    2. Seat the front wheel drive axle into the transaxle.
    3. Verify that the front wheel drive shaft retaining ring is properly seated. Grasp the inner housing and pull the inner housing outboard. Do not pull on the front wheel drive axle shaft.
The front wheel drive axle will remain in place when the front wheel drive shaft retaining ring is properly seated.
    4. Install the front wheel drive axle into the front wheel drive shaft bearing.
    5. Connect the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Refer to Lower Control Arm Ball Joint Replacement in Front Suspension.
    6. Connect the outer tie rod assembly to the steering knuckle. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement in Power Steering System. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
    7. Install a new front wheel drive shaft nut. Insert a drift or a flat-bladed tool into the caliper and the rotor to prevent the rotor from turning. Tighten
Tighten the front wheel drive shaft nut to 160 N·m (118 lb ft).
    8. Install the stabilizer shaft link. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement in Front Suspension.
    9. Install the wheel and the tire. Refer to Wheel Installation in Tires and Wheels.
    10. Lower the vehicle.
    11. Inspect the transaxle fluid level.
    12. Inspect the wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement in Wheel Alignment
