I own a 2006 GXP and I just noticed that when I click the lock button on the fob once, it's doesn't lock the car, but if I click it twice (like I normally do to set the alarm) it still sets the alarm. I can't really say when this started since I'm normally walking away from the car when locking and setting the alarm. Bad on my part I know. Both fobs are only 1 1/2 yrs old.

    Any suggestions?....Please.

Does it lock at all? These cars have a delayed locking mechanism.

I am not forsure but it could be the actual electric switch or a fuse or something. Maybe bill or FFDP will chime in. They tend to have an answer or idea on how to solve everything

It is just the drivers door or all doors that dont lock when you push the button?

    Clarify:

My manual, do you mean you need to press down the lock, or do the switches on the door work?
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.

the fob will not lock any of the doors. I didn't even here a clicking where it should be clicking and locking the doors. Nothing but the alarm set.

Yes I have to press down the lock either by the windows or the button on the inside door panel to lock the car. I can not remote lock my car with the fob.

Well, since your door switches are working to electronically lock your car, we might be able to rule out the car.

    Your fob may be bad.

Take it apart, clean it with alcohol and q-tips, and check to see if anything needs to be re-soldered.

Thank's, I'll try that. Makes me wonder because both sets of fobs are having this issue. I got both brand new from dealership when I purchased the GXP a year 1/2 ago. Bad batch of fobs, maybe?

Body Control Module. We're honestly getting into stuff I haven't played with before.

Hm. Well, the locks actually work. so maybe not BCM.

I'm now thinking it's the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver. According to my Gm Manual, this is located on the rear deck by the speakers - will have to remove deck cover to get to it. I wonder if maybe there's a wiring short of some kind to it, or the module itself is faulty. Ought to be able to see the wiring from the trunk. Seems that it's also the compass module.

Or... or I guess it's entirely possible that the locking has never worked for your fobs in the first place because they were somehow programmed wrong?
Might want to try reprogramming the fobs. Um... anyone have the instructions for this?

    From my GM manual:

All transmitters which are to be recognized by the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) must be programmed in a single programming sequence. If the system is placed in program mode it will erase all previously programmed transmitters upon the receipt of the programming signal from the first transmitter. Up to 4 transmitters can be programmed. Do not operate or program the transmitters in the vicinity of other vehicles that are in the keyless entry program mode. This prevents the programming of the transmitters to the incorrect vehicle.

    1. Install a scan tool.
    2. Use the scan tool in order to access the Body Control Module (BCM) Special Function: Program Key Fobs.
    3. Press the START soft key on the scan tool.

    Important
The scan tool must stay connected until all of the transmitters are programmed.

    4. Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button simultaneously on one transmitter. After a delay of 5-10 seconds, the scan tool will indicate that the transmitter is programmed.
    5. Repeat the previous step in order to program up to 4 transmitters.
    6. Remove the scan tool.
    7. Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation.

They did work correctly when I first got them and the fob actually locked my car this morning when I got to work, but at lunch they did not lock the car. I stood there and tried several times but nothing except set the alarm. So I guess it's hit or miss. To me, that could sound like either a faulty wire or a lose one.

    Correct me if I'm wrong:

    Door switches: Always functional.
Fob locks: Two fobs always set alarm, always unlock, always pop trunk, lock doors intermittently.

It doesn't hurt to pop apart the fobs and make sure the battery clip is soldered in nicely and clean all the contacts. Otherwise, yeah, it sounds like you've got some footwork to do on wiring. Might get lucky with an obvious wire rubbed open.

Unless you've got a spare Remote Control Door Lock Receiver/Compass sitting around to swap in.
