i have a 03 GT... my mom has an 05 GT... i hate the small rubber part on the older style keys... i know its not a big deal but i would prefer to have a newer style key if possible.
so... if i were to buy a blank 04+ style and got it cut to fit my 03.. would it work? or are the blanks different in some way?

I work at a dealership, just went and pulled both key blanks. Aside from the fact that they are both PK3 style keys, I don't think the resistors in the head of the key would be compatible, but the blanks themselves are vastly different and wouldn't work either ignition.

The cylinders are different as well as the tumblers inside so you would have to change out the entire lock cylinder just to get the style key you want and even then the security system probably wouldn't work.

Sorry but you're stuck with that key.

Transponders will still work but as said the keyblanks are vastly different and will never fit...

Used and programmed a 02 transponder cut from the rubber portion and glued to the inside of my ignition ring so i could use normal keyblanks to start my 06 lol
