Hi. My favorite car I've ever had was my 1999 Bonneville with a 3.8 series II engine. Alas, it was totaled by a deer. After a bad experience with a Ford I find myself with a beautiful 2001 Grand Prix I call black beauty. What a sweet car. It does need some work and I'm looking forward to meeting you other GP enthusiasts and building the car that will make me forget about the Bonneville.

Which seats did your Bonnie have, because GP seats don't compare to even the bench seat. If you work on your own car, the GP will seem cramped under the hood. The water pump and belt swaps are much easier w/o the TA bracket in front of them. Overall I like the W bodies for the various updates they had that the pre 2000 Bonnie's didn't have.

welcome....fellow "I used to own a Bonnie" guy.

Thank you bill. My Bonny had two 8 way power seats with cloth upholstery. They were the most comfortable seats I ever had in a car. I know the difference you're talking about. The GP is pretty comfortable though with a power seat. Right now it has a 3.1 with a bad wrist pin but I'm planning on putting a 3.8 Series II in it. I can't wait to have the power that the Bonneville had back again. I'm glad I found this forum so I can get over any bumps in the road I encounter while I do the swap.

Ahhh the AL6's. Nice seats. My Bonne was the SSEi and had the 18 way seats with all the lumbar etc in them. Then I added the one thing GM left out. Seat heaters.

Swapping the GP huh? Nice. Which 3.8 are you going to put in the naturally aspirated or the supercharged?
