Hi my name is Bill I am 42 and I am an idiot. A few weeks ago I bought a 97 GTP because I had wanted one since the first time I saw them. I need all your help in helping me to hide from my wife how very little I remember/know from auto shop back in high school. Which by the way is about the extent of my automobile knowledge.

I did not post any questions yet but I will soon enough. I'll try and get a picture up asap. I've been lurking and reading for a while and trying to gain as much information prior to buying the car as I could. Thanks for the welcome!

The old guy I bought the car from said he NEVER drove the car at night so he did not know how bad the lighting was from the headlights. I drove the car home from where he lived, about 175 miles away mostly in the dark. I actually stopped to see if the lights were on, it was that dim. I ordered a set of Silver Star Ultra's from Amazon and put them in 3 days after buying the car. They seem to put off a pretty good amount of light so I am not sure if I personally want to go to HID's or not but a new headlight assembly is high on the to do list. When I put the silver stars in, the assembly fit like fertilizer. It was like one of the two bolts on each side was a 1/4 inch to short or something so... Where is the best place to get a new clear headlight assembly? I saw the body mod thread so I looked at Amazon but I HATE ebay so any other sites/vendors I should check out? Thanks.

I bought the 3m kit and polished my headlights, worked pretty good. My car has 181,000. I did by a taillight from amazon for my wife's van for $50 brand new. Even included new bulbs.

    Welcome

I just restored a set of stockers and I just sanded them down till they were clear and sprayed a couple of coats of clear on them. From what I hear the refinishing kits work but you'll end up doing it again later.

The refinishing kits work just DO IT RIGHT sand apply all the BS. For the clear corner just find the sticky where they tell you to bake them for a couple minutes then you can pull them appart and take out the amber yourself. Real easy and cheap
