I have an opportunity to buy a 2001 Grand Prix SE. It's a one owner car that is a 9.9 inside and out !!
It is a one owner car, and I know the owner. Car has 175K on it and most of it is Interstate driving to Bowling Green, Ky.
The car has zero issues now, and never has had any. Everything on the car is OEM except the battery.
Oil changed every 6K and transmission has been serviced every 50K.

Anyway....it's AS NEW....and I can get into it for $3200.

Would you jump on the deal....or be scared off by the miles, regardless of the extensive upkeep ??

Thanks a lot for any replies / suggestions

Car looks good. Most (if not all) people here prefer the 3.8 over the 3.1. It'll never be fast, but it ought to make a decent daily driver. What is the mileage?

mileage is 175K....I'm only considering it as a gas mileage vehicle for weekly trips to Florida from North Alabama. I don't care about it being fast, only reliable and economical

3.1 is as economical as 3.8. might as well get a bigger engine and have the power when u need it. 3.8 n/a is good and u should get it for teh same price if u look arround.

I wouldn't pay more than $2,000, but if you're absolutely in love with it, you might be able to live with $2,500.

That car is CLEAN. The engine bay looks showroom new... I honestly wouldnt let the 3.1 scare me off, great engines, great cars, good economy. If you ask me, the 3.1's have plenty of power to get the job done.
The price might be a tad bit high, but given how clean the car is, and the fact that you know its history, I might be inclined to pay the higher price tag.

As I stated earlier, I'm not interested in the performance / speed of the car. I'm only wanting it for comfort and fuel mileage. I'm a bit leery of it simply because of the mileage, but as said previously, it has been maintained meticulously by the book since day one.

For the people saying "NO" to the purchase, I'm curious as to the reasons why ??

I'm really wrestling with this decision .........

does it purr like a kitten still?if so, your good to go for now but with that many miles parts may start failing especially if its all original, just remember that.but it looks and sound like you should jump on it.i probably wouldve.i got a 2000 gran prix gt it had 135k on it.after a year i ended up replacing the tranny and it the car ran and looked good.the only thing was is i didnt check on the previous owners and its maintenance schedule like i should have, but i tinker with cars alot and other than that and normal bolt on parts failing here and there its not left me on the side of the road yet. now it has about the same amount of miles as the one your interested in.just go with your gut if after youve checked everything else about the car.like i said i probably would after looking it over, test driving it and hearing it run.heres a suggestion, take it to a garage and have them put it on a computer and see what it pulls up.if the computer lists a couple of items,go ahead with it.they could be easy fixes like a sensor or something.some sensors are easy to change but they can be expensive, dont get me wrong not trying to scare you but most of them run 20 to 40 bucks each. others are higher. just some info from someone who has been there with these cars.my pontiac as i said hasnt put me on the side of the road yet.unlike a ford i owned.i hate them damn things.i used to have a 77 gran prix had a 400 big block in it and it would fly.it was a beast,i mean a tank kind of beast. lol good luck dude.if you decide to get it you may not be disappointed.im not with mine, even with its tranny problems it had.
