Well thanks for all the posts after a new sn and finding my old post (since I couldnt remember the stupid password here I am again! I know what your thinking "please dont ask about the lift kit" and thats fine. However, when I posted the first time I certainly had 20's no prob on my pontiac. with airbags and a small 3 inches I could have easily had 22's put on it. So when I get it lifted ten inches I should be able to put 26's on it. But im gonna go 24's for starters.
My question is and was but not really in detail since I was new(I still enjoy the negative responses that I recieved, thanks!) The question is "If im gonna put 24" wire wheels on it, what engine could I upgrade to from a 3.1 v6 to support a 26" rim? I have been told I could put a 350 in it. Doesn't pontiac have a 350? I know the rear seal is a prob aslong as you don't over rev it.
So what I wanna know is what size engine and tranny would compensate for the torque and weight keep your bulls*it comments to your self ok. dont waste your time being funny. Just lend a hand this a custom thing not a backyard mechanics marathon! Arent there people on here with 4x4 experience I mean custom people this should be your thing! so lend some help and expertise!
im pretty sure a 350 isnt going to fit in your car. not trying to be an ass but nobody here has a gp thats lifted. you wont find anybody here thats going to do that. you would have to swap to rwd to make a 350 work. thatd be more work than you would want. like said in the previous comments get a car that can almost fit them if you want that.
Question, why a 96' Grand Prix with a lift and huge rims?
Seems like a waste of money, but if thats your taste. Great. Why not just buy a SUV and save all the head ache?
Also, Pontiac hasn't made a 350ci since the 70's or something like that. Plus its not the type of motor you would drop into a FWD car. It would require a RWD conversion. Which is a whole other ball park and pain in the a$$.
You would be better off just learning how to safely mod your car, or do a engine swap to a bigger V6. Like a 3800.
best you can do is a 3800 supercharged.
then you'll eat transmissions for a living.
this is what he wants it to look like right?
or maybe this
HAHAHAHAHA LMFAO!!! this is bashing myself btw! \/\/\/
^^ monte carlo with the huge wheels just sitting by the side...and the lambo doors...and its a 5th gen, talk about epic fail
i cant belive that question just got asked lol
Yea people on here get rid of the 4x4 look. You're probably best to find the answers on one of the donk forums than you are here. They'll have the right answers and not so much negative feedback as you're going to get on here. This is in no way in most people's taste on this site.
Get a GP from the late 70s early 80s then you could put a 455 in and have a much better set up for a pimp show car. Doing this all to a 96 is a waste of money.
