    Hello to all, just joined the forum. I have an 08 GXP and its the first ls4 powered car ive owned so far.
    I have owned other ls powered cars and trucks but first time ive run across DOD/AFM. So as soon as i bought car
    it ran fine with the DOD working as it should switching between 8 and 4 cylinder modes. I decided to
    disconnect the oil pressure sensor under throttle to disable DOD temporarily and it worked great never went into 4 cylinder mode.
    I drove car this way for two days no issues and one day i drove up a parking ramp and it immediately switched to V4 mode
    No more 8 cylinder functionality. Codes that I am getting are p0102 maf low voltage, p3401 p3425 p3441 p3449 basically cylinders
    1,4,6,7 are deactivated no other codes present. Changed the maf with no difference in change. It starts runs and drives in V4 with no issues. Runs great in 4 cylinder mode.
    Could this be maf wiring, ecm, I have no idea where to start, any hints would be very much appreciated, a plus is the fuel economy but its very dangerous in traffic, slow and all.

    you might have a blown maf fuse, usually marked IGN int he fuse box. best way to get rid of the dod is to tune it out with a tuner. or do a cam and lifter swap to replace the dod bs.

    I run a Range DOD delete plug on my suburban. Keeps it in V8 mode all the time. It plugs into the OBDII port. I think it was $150.

    Ok so I will check fuses, didnt know maf sensor was tied into ign fuse. Thank you all for relpies will keep you posted.

    the 2013 ss camaro i just bought has DOD. i tuned that crap off. made a difference in how it feels for sure.

    I plugged the oil sensor back in no change. Checked all fuses related to the ecm/ign all good. What should i be checking for in the maf plug as far as voltage? Is ecm not sending proper voltage, allowing for deactivation?

    Noticed that the ecm under the intake is not bolted down, going up ramp could the ecm have moved and possibly damage internally?

    Has anyone with an ls4 powered car ever encounter this situation? Ive heard of getting stuck in v8 mode, I will start to check for voltage signals from the connector but would like to know what to look for in values. Thank you for the responses so far.

    pcm would be be getting the voltage back for a reading, its reading low voltage so it sets the cel off.

    check the wires to the maf's plug for damage as well. if you see bare wire or cracks in the insulation, you need a new pig tail.

    ok, Im going to inspect the harness, the maf voltage low is a parameter that sets the deactivation on? Thank you for the help will keep posted.

    low voltage means the mafs not working anymore pretty much or bad wires, or bad fuse. for what ever reason the pcm is seeing low or no voltage from the maf.

    if you unplug the maf then start it up. it might run better.

    not sure how the v8's are about after market mafs, i know the 3800 like oem mafs only. so if you got a aftermarket maf or a cheap china one. that could be the issue.

    I did get a new maf carquest brand from advance. So i should just change that maf for an oem unit.

    Possible that all 4 of the AFM/DoD cylinder circuit wires and the MAF circuit on the same loom but that is the reason for the poor running. If all 4 of those circuit are left open the engine is likely to default to running on the other 4 cylinders.

    I'd be tracing wires and doing some inspecting to see if something chewed through that harness or if it came unplugged or something.

    I agree ! No drone after the switchover and responsive thru the whole throttle range.

    I do not have a tuner [emoji3166] ( maybe i should) or even know if the 2012 suburban can be tuned. But heard stories and knew a guy at work who had to have the dealer tear into it and replace the DOD lifters and it does not sound fun.

    So it was a cheap fix for me.

    Not even sure i can say the gas mileage dropped 1/2 mpg. So i see no benefit for DOD other than CAFE marketing.
