I know, but I've always been a Mopar guy and stuck to what I knew. Then I decided to try out BMW and enjoyed the engineering for a while. My 91 525i even had a GM transmission... it was a slush box tho.
Fast forward to this January 2017 and I found myself the sweetest little gem out in Arizona: a one owner, well-documented and cared for 2000 GTP.
My wife then got a job in Cincinnati and we are now sitting right in the rust belt. I'm scared of the fuzzy brown stuff and gonna keep her garage kept in winter.
I towed the lil lady behind me from LA and she cried the whole way. When we arrived, I was sad to see I had caught the trans cooler line on the safety chain and bent the line at the trans. Total bummer. I even noticed it somewhere in Texas but was too late cuz the damage was done. Then, my brain being damaged from 36 hours of driving, decided to start the car for power brakes... well there was still about 6quarts of trans fluid left in the system and dumped it out all over the asphalt in the street. F*&k!!! That was fun... I cleaned up what I could with Zep and Dawn and elbow grease... 3 hours later, a nice size scar remains. It was like a the car slit it's wrists in defiance... so depressing. Luckily O'Reilly's had the line and fitting for about $60 and another $40 for trans fluid... It was a stupid mistake setting up the car at 4am before the big haul and some killer bouncing through some crazy places. That was not the way I wanted to start my new life in Cincy.
So, now that is fixed... then another problem arose. And I found myself looking on this site a lot. Tons of useful info and I hope to contribute in a positive way. I am mechanically inclined and intend on doing the basic fundamental repairs first. Upgrades are in the near future, but I gotta make sure she is reliable as a DD first.
So the next post will be in the Engine forum I suppose since I am dealing with a cracked return/feed fuel line. Onward and upwards!
Cheers!
