Hey guys....my 2004 Superior Blue SE GTP is just about ready to kick the bucket and probably wont be able to sell it if it isn't running. I was only offered $1000 for a trade-in last week but that is now probably out the window with the latest issue. My question is what do you think I could get parting it out? The Special Edition hood and rims (17" 5-stars) I would think have some value as I have never seen another GP with them. Thoughts? Suggestions?

The body still looks really clean, it would be worth far more if you fix it and try to sell it.

But that only applies if you can wrench yourself to save money.

those are pics from when I originally bought it about 7 years ago, lol. It was making alot of loud noises under the hood (professional diagnosis there) and tonight when I started it I dont know how to describe the sound, kinda loud whistle, idled real rough, I shut it down...also a really weird burnt smell. Probably will get it towed to my mechanic for diagnosis. But no way I would spend more than a couple hundred bucks to fix. Has 127,700 miles.

127,000 ?? It's just broken in...You can easily double that...

I sure do like those dark blue GP's!
If you do decide to part it out (not recommended) I want that hood!

    126,500 here, same year

Have you ever looked under the hood for any sign of where 'loud noises' or smells might be emanating from?

Leaky valve cover gaskets might be the smell. Was 04 in the recall?

Locked up A/C comes to mind. Rattling compressor finally locked up and it was slipping the belt (hence the whistle noise). They have been known to cause engines to shut down because of the drag. Just thinking outloud.

Pop the hood, get near the pass side and have someone fire it up for a sec. and see what's making the noise. I'd bet it's a simple fix.

That's barely broken in, and that color, with the SE option, makes that car worth fixing and selling.

This forum has enough knowledge to keep just about any GP on the road for 300k plus miles, regardless of what's wrong with it. If you want to save on the repairs, parts are cheap and there's plenty of people on here that would be more than willing to give advice. It just takes a little bit of elbow grease and a few simple tools, and most junkyards have plenty of W-Bodies to pull from, and it could be an easy $200 or less to get it back in good running condition.

I learned how to wrench on stuff mostly because of this forum, and this place makes it easy to learn how to do just about any repair or maintenance with little prior knowledge.

thanks everyone....getting diagnosed today....hoping its just a belt or something. If its a cheap fix I think I will do that and then be trying to sell it as-is.

Turns out it was just the drive belt. Will be getting fixed and probably putting up for sale. Who wants her? Lol.
