First off, there are NO pictures regarding how to do this upgrade unfortunately but this info comes from a trusted friend that's been working in the auto industry for 33 years. He did this on an '02 Chevy Impala and his '05 Bonneville. I was gonna do this on my '97 GP but the line never seized or broke so I didn't bother.

Secondly, this is considered an upgrade because some people end up breaking and/or twisting the line trying to get the fuel filter off and need to repair it. Sometimes the nut and line rots or seizes. It's also an upgrade due to the fact that this will make filter changes easier then ever.

Last but not least, Credit and Thanks goes to TurboMike321 for supplying photos and a simple walk through.

Parts and tools can be found at NAPA or wherever you prefer.

    What you'll need:

    1. Dorman 3/8 In. Quick Connector, Straight w/ 18 In. of 3/8 In. Nylon Tube PART# 800-058

You don't need to use the entire 18". Just cut to fit.

    2. Compression Fitting

    Fuel Line Connector PART# 730-5642

    3. Fuel Filter of your choice

NAPA PART# 3193 (Wix makes NAPA Filters)
    AC Delco PART# GF624K
    Wix PART# 33193
    Fram PART# G7333

    4. NAPA Tubing Cutter PART# 2107

parts required *(line cutter not pictured)*

prepping the new line for install.. pay attention to the fitting's orientation

where i chose to cut my line.. seems like a good place

    all connected and finished

now fuel filter change takes about 5 minutes or less..

No worries... I know what you mean.

I would be interested in trying this as well. Matter of fact I almost DID do this because I think the nut on my line is finally done for.

Thanks for the pics. I would've uploaded some if I ever got around to doing this job.

Yea definitely not a thread jack. Just had to do something for a how to because it's tiring when people keep making a thousand posts on how to fix the fuel filter line.

Might do a suspension thread and consolidate all the info. Too many what springs, which struts, will these wheels fit, etc....

I got mine from Napa.. Part # 730-5642
They come in a pack of two.
    They are 3/8 inch.
They are called steel to nylon compression unions.
Assemble as shown in pic above

Does the little clear rubber piece on the end of the flexible line come in the package or does it come on the hose? And the little brass piece with a hex on one side and then it tapers inwards, which way does that go in?

The clear piece comes with the unions.. The way I have everything in the pic, is exactly how it goes when installing on the car.

    Step one

Slip the nut over nylon line, then put the clear sleeve over the end of the nylon line, assemble union to nut at nylon line.. NotIce that the nylon end has an inner stem on the union

    Step two

Slip the nut over the steel line on car, then the metal sleeve, then attach union to steel line on car

Everything in the cart looks good right?

The compression fitting says it has different attachments for 1/4", 5/16", and 3/8".
