For all you linguistic purist out there, I realize I spelled the word ratchet wrong in the pictures. I didnt realize it until after I had everything done and well I just wast going back through them all to correct it. So sue me. LOL
great write up yea dont use red or green casue if you have to do it again it wont be fun.
I here by give this write up. 2 thumbs up!!!!!
Im glad UR LOSN posted because I forgot something extremely critical to this write up, the credit for the help I got.
First goes to Reptile. Reptile was an amazing help with information direct from the horses mouth so to speak. I bugged him for what seemed all day about specs and parts and if not for his patience and willing to help I dont think I would have been able to start.
Second goes to UR LOSN. I dont know what all to say about him that would truly compliment all the help he provided. He was online with me WHILE I was doing the work keeping me confident I could get all this done. I was in sorta panic mode because it was the last day I had to get this done, it was freezing cold outside and I was super concerned that if I didnt have all the tools or supplies I was going to be dead because the next day was 01.01.2008 and little would be open.
He did a lot of reassuring and confidence building I will tell you that.
Without either of their help I would have not been able to get this done and both truly represent the infectious enthusiasm I have spoke about here before. UR LOSN was on line with me until dang near midnight as I recall. I cannot thank both of them enough to say nothing of all the suggestions and community help I got in the thread I started about the original issue and everyone that posted there trying to help out.
THIS people, is what a community is about and should be like. Not about who has mad skills, the most mods, the fastest time. Nope, its about one another. Its about what we can individually sacrifice to the community as a whole to get people to those mad skills, mods and fast times. Indeed, self-sacrifice would sum it up nicely and Reptile and UR LOSN certainly did their fair share to ensure this task would be successful.
FYI, it's 22 foot lbs on those front cover bolts that hold the sensor.
Good. I knew someone would have that information. I'll have to update my hard copy.
Yep finally in 20mph winds banging on my garage door and finding every crevice there is with 30* temps if not cooler, I finally got it all done.
WTG Awsome write up Scotty
hey, question.... weren't there slots on the CPS mounting holes? (thus requring clearance measurement? (feeler gauge)
thought i remembered there being some on the last 3800 i helped change one on... but that was a series I, too...
Wow, another great write-up, if this keeps up there will be no service on the GP without a GPF write-up on how to do it(very good thing)
Oh, and thank you for all the comments also. I would love to do more and sometimes I dont mind tearing stuff down even if it aint broke just so a write up can be done.
I will personally take vacation and drive to anyones and stalk you and hunt you down if you suggest any electrical work after all I went through this weekend.
Great job you three! The pictures were extremely helpful. I haven't had to do this yet, but I am confident I can when I need to now that I've read this. Your'e right on when you summed it all up as '"community". Everyone has something helpful to contribute.

Thanks Scotty for the write up. I'm attempting this tomorrow morning, and have a question.
The puller kit that I borrowed from Auto Zone has a little pointy end piece that can go on the end of the forcing screw. Without that piece, it looks like the end of an extension, kind of like you used. Since the forcing screw is the same shape as the extension, I'm assuming that I don't need it or the little pointy thing? Is this right?
I'll be watching this topic for the next few hours, so if someone needs pictures, just ask, and I'll have them within a few minutes. I just don't want to go out to my car unless necessary. It's cold as hell out there.
BTW, this question is directed at anyone smart enough to answer. Not just Scotty.
Edit: Question answered over PM. Thanks again Scotty.
