Sure enough, nothing but filter underneath, no deflector. Now I need new 15794785 deflector and new carpet kit. Thank you guys for your thoughts.

This post was a life saver. Took me 15 minutes from start to finish for the fix. Would have been around 5 minutes but those fasteners are a ***** sometimes. No more water on my floorboards.

Nice, I did the exact same to both w-bodies for our household. One was an impala that did come with a filter, man was it nasty. New went in both. It should say in the how to, to pick up a filter for the job. Might as well, they're cheap and prevent problems, and keep the air you breath cleaner.

Hell ya.why.didnt gm put the filter in if.they made a spot? I needed to.replace the gxps as well but they only had 2 in stock at advanced..I wonder if my 95 cutlass has a spot for one lol.

Iirc the 97s and some 98s don't have a spot for a filter, but you can still fit one in it. I might be thinking of something else though.

97 and 98 have the slot for it, my 98 regal had one in there, i took mine out due to it being wet and moldy.

It's all about the money. $10/filter x thousands of cars. Same as with the door lights; the light is there but no wiring. Big savings for GM!

That's it. ^ And the more expensive w-bodies like regals and such got it, but you're paying way more for them(new, that is).

Gm...making me go in my door panels and light the housings myself

they all have the slot for the filter, most gp's seem to not come with a filter installed. nor is there a part # listed for one. so ask for one for a regal and it fits the same.

I thought I read somewhere that the 97s were different, now that I think of it, it was early 97s that didn't.
