The other day I had this thought.. Today talking to a fellow GP'er I bolted a spare bracket to the motor and went to work. 30 minutes total invested to this point.

The whole premise was.. the belt only catches a little under a 1/2 inch of the bracket. Why not remove some of the excess and slide the bracket over, seemed possible..I went to work.

Using a 4 1/2 cutoff wheel, then a carbide grinding bit to finish it off a little. Here's the pics.

Remove your coils, icm and pack mounting plate. May need to put the bracket in a vise. My motor was out already. Then cut in across the bottom to make the area flush with the old area that the pack mounted to and then cut down from directly above to complete the corner.

Bad angle, but I could see this cleared

Redrill at least two of the three holes and mount.

Like I said..this was a quick and dirty prototype to see if it was possbile. Dammit..it's going to work like a charm.

So you grind out the inside of it and move everything over so the belt doesn't hit the coils?

I think I have a spare bracket in a box of goodies that could use some modification. Nicely done Bill
