I'm looking at having to do this on a 2002 3.1, I know the two are similar, so do you have to remove the valve covers and valvetrain components to do the LIM gaskets?

Yeah i am sure it has.. but i have not been on here that much to know this..
Between work and working on my car, and our local club i don't get to much time to bounce around the different sites as much as i would like to...

And the question was if i could post this back on my local club site..
Need permission to do this first...
    Thanks
    John

    Hey guys.
Been lurking and searching for a while now and I figure I've got to do the LIM job. Loosing coolant, but no puddles anywhere, so figure it's leaking onto the engine and burning off. Been doing this since we had cold weather and was waiting for it to get warmer, well it's warmer now and I guess it's time to get my hands dirty.
I've watched the video a few times, read a write up, but I'm sure someone posted the "Better" gasket set to buy. I'm sure it was an aluminum set, but can't find that thread when I look. There was also something about buying the in/outlets for the cooling system, they're plastic and usually break.
My car is an 04 bone stock GT2 with the 3.8, is the upper intake manifold good on these or do I need to get the "Sure Fix" one like advertised on one of the aftermarket sites, Automotive Parts Network, Inc.
I emailed them about the "Sure Fix" and all they replied with was "you'll need a different one", some help there eh? (Canadian)
Will be doing this in about a week or so, so any info or links to the info will be greatly appreciated.
What I've started doing is when I find a posting or a link to a repair I just copy and paste it into my Notepad under the title Grand Prix Repairs, so when it comes time to look again all I have to do is open my document folder copy and paste the link or addy into the address bar and "Hey presto magico" there's the help, beats going into search all the time.
04 GP GT Bone stock, just like me! 09 G8 GT...oh yeh!!!

Your UIM is aluminum, only way thats breaking is it you beat it with a hammer.

Get the LIM gasket set for your car, second version if applicable, it should be the aluminum one.

I'd just get GM gaskets, they're better anyways.

Its the higher end GT package.

Just like you can get the new maro in the SS1 or the SS2 packages.

gotcha..so this is just a GT and not some SC'd version I haven't heard of... putting rpo codes in your sig is confusing.

It's possible your cooling ports to the TB are leaking either at the TB or at the UIM/LIM area. Although this isn't common, I've seen it happen on the paper gasketed L67's. Usually the rubber based L26/L36 gaskets don't have the issue.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
