do you have to buy own connectors?
ok there really isnt such thing as "fake projectors" , its a magnifying globe that centers the light in a spheric globe. , and "HID" High Intense Discharge is just a bulb n ballast , there is no such thing as a HID projector , its a term to sell , a selling slogan to grab ur attention or stress the fact that they give u a garbage HID kit with it but make it sound like its a good deal , if u want awesome HIDs i got the best , digital ballaasts , slim fit , 100 % color match with digitality
good write up helped alot thanks
I have succesfully taken a set of the projectors apart and put them back together again. I bought the black housing ones from ebay and didn't care for the black housings on my wife's silver GP so I took them apart and color matched the housings to the silver of the car. I will be changing the color of the halos soon and no you don't have to take the headlight apart to change the halo color. The LEDs that illuminate the halos come out the bottom of the headlight (or at least on the ones I have they do). PICs to come soon!! Maybe I will do a write up on how to take them apart. I also made my halos and 3 LEDs in my headlights my DRL's. Think I should do a how-to on that too??
Happysol,
Yes please! Do a writeup! Im gonna put up a post soon asking if anyone knows how to wire a Bi-Xenon HID kit to the spyder projectors that everyone in here loves so much. I too, would want the DRLs as the halos and fully functioning Hi/Low beams. Still too new at this stuff to be fully confident with all this but I'm learning fast I hope.
are the color codes for the parking lights the same for the 2006
I have been looking into Halos and have a question. I have a 2008 GP and was wondering if I get a set of Halos, how do I make the halos activate instead on the DRL's?
I have been looking at a set like these.
04-08 GRAND PRIX HALO PROJECTOR LED HEADLIGHTS SMOKED | eBay
Maybe I am just retarded and am missing a simple link but from what I have read the halos get wired to your parking lights if I am not mistaken?!?! So is there a way to wire them in place of the DRL's?
Just a few things off the top of my head...
First, the HID's draw more current than the standard lighting so you'll want to use a relay with seperate wiring (larger wires) to accomplish this. Power would be taken from the battery or fuse block and the relay would power the HID's, control of the relay coming from the headlight circuit. Two relays needed if for two ballasts or lamps (low/high).
Same for halo's, maybe not higher current draw but you could intercept the circuit controlling the drl's and use a relay then to control them too instead of the sidemarkers that'll blink when using the signals. Anyways, I do remember seeing diagrams online somewhere, if I find it I will post the link here.
Regards...
I just bought LED Halos, look awesome, but i was wondering if i could get people's opinions on where to wire the halos to, the parking lights and have em blink when turning, the fog lights which go off with drls, or the regular headlights themselves?
If you have an opinion for me please let me know hat color wire is the power or ground, thatd help alot. Also if i do them to the headlights, will they be on with the drls or with the switch or both? i prefer both if possible
