I also got one after I saw this post but I ran my wire through with the taillight wires so i dont need to drill and there isnt much chance for it to short out. i think the hole makes it look a bit better but more permanent.

Well I wired it all up ready to install and just about to drill the holes. I figured I'd test it just to make sure I had it wired right....and guess what.... the led strip was yellow, not red. I sent a message through Ebay to the seller and told them. Now I guess I just wait and see what they tell me. So now its gonna be another 2-3 weeks before I can get it all done. OWELL what can ya do.
Well my new and correct LED light finally came in. The weather here finally got a little better and we actully didnt have any rain today. So I installed the LED. I think it looks pretty good. The only thing I dont like is that Im not sure if the glue on the back of the LED is gonna hold. See what happens. Once I get her all cleaned up I will post a few pics. It was wasy to do it took about 20 minutes to get it all done from start to finish. Now to figure out this whole photobucket thing. Wish me luck

thanks dstout, so do you mean copy and paste the pic exactly? or the http: thing lol!! tried the http: thing that it gives you when you upload them to photobucket and it pastes this long address on my thread? also sorry to chase for using his thread on 4th brake lights to figure out my photobucket problem
well what I do is open the pic in photobucket (don't copy the thumbnail the photo it needs to be the full size after you click the thumbnail), right click, click copy.......go back to the message, right click and paste. Your pic should appear in the message box.....then click preview post and see if it is there and then you can continue on with your message or post.
Try that and see if it works.
whats positive and whats negative? Also, did the led strip come with enough wiring to run it the whole way without having to add any?
No the led strip only comes with about 3ft of wirind if that. So yu neeed to run a longer wire. As far as the polarity, it will only work one way. If the polarity is not right it wont work, then just switch the wires around. BTW im still working on getting those pic online. I have to wash my car first. I can see the critizism comming if my car is dirty. LOL Maybe I ll wash it this week and get them out.
Guys, I found this strip at ebay but it comes from Honk kong... I really don't trust to buy item from outside of usa..... do you know where else can i find this led strip???
hmmm. looks like a good job done, my personal opinion is that a fourth brake light is redundant. BUT that said it is done nicely and if u the driver likes it then ride on my friend ;-)
looks great as for the turn signs they make a unversial one for trucks that have them.
Anyone else have pics of this mod on their cars?
I just bought a "fire and ice" tail bar met for large trunks. I plan on cutting it to the proper length and fitting it under the deck lid. I also wanted to have turn signal functionality and backup light functionality as well, so I bought a two piece fire and ice set. I am really hoping it will fit well and I will post pics of the finished product.
super old thread but ive had the same idea lately, i didnt know that others have done it too. my plan was to get 2 12" amber and 1 24" red and maybe even 2 2" white and do a whole spread across the back of my car, red and white in middle and then amber on my tails in the groove
so it would be from (L>R) amber white red white amber
Hmm, I mean functionality I think it would work fine, but idk how it would look with all those wires ruining inside your trunk as well as the back of your car because of all those different colors. Also, and this is just me, do you want ambers on the back of your car? The only reason i ask is because I don't think your GP has amber rear turn signals, just a brighter red, correct? May look kinda goofy to have a amber thrown in there, maybe something to think about.
im not worried about the wires, im kinda anal about lots of wires everywhere so i would make it as clean as i possibly can and the wiring "invisible" and hidden. and yes i do have amber turn signals. otherwise i wouldnt even bother with them lol. no worries tho i understand exaclty where you are comming from and how 97+ are all just through the brake light instead of a whole seperate turn signal circuit such as on the pregens. i got he turn signal idea after seeing how the under fire(im pretty sure i got he brand name wrong) light bars under the tailgates of trucks started having the turn signals. im not sure if one of those would fit. depending how how everything prices out i may look into the truck lightbar and see if i could modify it to fit or somehting. there will deffinately be a write up when i do it
im about to begin looking into strips.
the bottom of my trunk is 30"
*option a: so im thinking a 24" with a 3" white on each side (24+3+3=30)and then a 12" amber on the taillight. a 20" would be more than adequate as it would wrap around to the side and go to the front of the taillight.
*option b: im also wondering about id i matched up the leds with the taillight and did red at the bottom of my trunk 30" and hten 4" on each taillight above my reverse lights, and then a 16" for the blinkers, going to the front of the taillight.
any input? im thinking the second idea would look better since the groove goes around the sides and to the front of the taillights
