Hi Guys, just thought I would do a quick write up on how I made my intake and mounted the pcm, I've seen a few different ways of keeping the pcm secure after removing the airbox but wanted to share how I decided to do it:
1. A buddy of mine who has an S10 Xtreme noticed that the pcm for his 4.3 was the same size and shape as mine, but his is mounted with a bracket on the left side of the engine bay. We determined that it would be possible to mount this bracket on the inside of the fender of my car, so i ran to a junkyard and snatched one up for 5 bucks.
Next I laid the bracket in the fender and made a template of where to drill the mounting holes, shown here circled in red.
Then I just bolted the bracket to the fender using the screws that came with it out of the blazer I pulled it out off.
After that I just snapped the PCM in.
The Intake:
For this I bought a 4" 45 degree mandrel bent piece of aluminum, along with the biggest intake cone I could find lol. I got both of these for $30 because I have a friend who works at an auto parts store. I also picked up a rubber coupling from menards for about $3.00 to mount the whole thing to the throttle body.
Next I acquired a piece of the stock corrugated intake tubing stuff for $free.99 and cut out the little rubber oval that holds the IAT sensor in. Then I drilled a hole in the aluminum and used an epoxy to mount the entire rubber piece to the aluminum tubing as seen in picture. After that it was a simple matter of pushing the IAT through and plugging it back in.
Ends up looking like this:
Overall, I think it turned out pretty good, the PCM almost looks stock and the intake makes the supercharger ALOT louder haha. So far I haven't encountered any issues with this setup but let me know if you have any other suggestions! Thanks
