Sent ya PM about your question. With regards to more write ups, post 'til your hearts content. You are putting up some really good stuff and if you got more, I want to see it.
That looks phenomenal. Had no idea it was even possible to get them looking that good. Congrats, and thanks for the write up!
Therman, your here! Its great to see you here bud.
so is that what the GP exhaust tips looked from the factory?
Ive never seen one not corroded.
Have to agree Mothers Mag and aluminum wheel polish is the ****!
My tips, though stainless steel/carbon fiber, the Mothers works the magic...

Woo wee, now them thar look purty.
im pretty sure the stock tips come from the factory looking like bare metal and just get carbon and road crap built up on them. i know theyre not high=polish from the factory though.
Wouldn't these tips rust/corode up faster once
you polish them ??
no, they dont rust or corrode as far as i know. mine havent anyhow. all they do is get dirty again.
The stock GP exhaust tips are casted aluminum. Polishing them will not cause them to ever rust, as aluminum cannot and will not rust. If anything the aluminum will oxidize/tarnish as its exposed to the elements, but having a good sealing polish on them will prolong this. Plus, making them clean up nice with a simple wipe of a rag.
But to get them polished to a mirror shine takes a lot of sanding and once its completely smooth, then the polishing begins. If you do a good job sanding, polishing is easy. But you have to get rid of all the roughness and cast marks before you start polishing, cause the polishing will show any imperfections. And these being a casted part...will have a lot of them, inside and out. Kinda like the supercharger cases.
My tips were polished stainless steel from Borla. They looked shinny to begin with, but they do and will turn nasty from driving my car that does not have a cat on it. Once a year they get a touch up from the Mothers, and is good to go. I didn't "polish" mine so to say, I just am keeping up the upkeep on them to keep them looking good. Unpolished stainless steel looks like fresh, smooth concrete. Ugly, dull, and gray in color.

Spectacular job!!!!!!!!
I was thinking about doing the same thing - went to a chrome-plating outfit where I was quoted $100 per tip, for polishing the outsides only. They wouldnt touch the insides. So, I simply sprayed them with hi-temp chrome. It doesnt look too bad, but not close to yours.
Excellent article, think Ill get started on mine (bought a spare set to work on so as to not destroy the originals).
Very Nice N Shiny!
mothers polish is the shiznit haha
