OK here is my problem I fixed it. The connector that snaps on the switch. The female ends in the connector that the male ends on the switch slide in to are spread out. TO FIX. I used a small nail and pushed them together. So now the male ends that slide in to the female are tight...

try this..
Try pushing the window button that IS NOT working and move teh connector around that mounts to the underside... Thats how i figured it out
Anyone know of a writeup for the newer 2004-2008 models? I have a 2005 that needs a new passenger side window switch. I have the $13 switch but haven't a clue how to get at the old switch other than rip the interior door panel off...
If they are the same as the 97-03 then you just need to pry on the lower part of the switch panel, not the switch itself.
I tried prying the switch plate out but near as I can tell, they are definately different. It acts like it needs to be removed from the back side since I don't see any clips - only a flange around the entire switch plate that keeps it from popping out.
I've been hoping that someone has pulled their interior door panel off to upgrade the door speakers and maybe they noticed. Maybe I will post something in the electronics section.
Ill go the the yard and try to pull one apart and let ya know....
WOW! What an amazing "how to". You did a fantastic job. This seems to be a common problem with this car. I've seen the same problem in several other forums, but this is the most detailed I've ever seen.
I've had both front windows crap out on me but I actually had to replace the entire regulator motor. I heard the motor running but the window wouldn't roll back up or down. It came crashing down quite well, just couldn't get it up so i used a wooden wedge until I could afford the entire regulator motor part, just under $100. For the mechanic to replace that entire unit was $300. Thank GOD I got the insurance company to fix it after some guy sideswiped me *giggle*.
Anyway, I'm going to keep this filed in case it happens again.
Again, fabulous instructions
awesome, thanks man. Only had to suffer one night with the window stuck down. I got a coupe but the directions still match up. thanks again and thanks to the community, id be lost without you.
Thanks man The contacts were black and nasty. My drivers window works like a champ..
Again thanks for the VERY helpful post....8)
Many thanks for this excellent write-up! Front window failed today, went on this forum to look at fixes (as I've used them before), and about 30 mins after taking the switch out of the door and cleaning the black contacts, I've got a working window again! Easy to follow instructions could'nt be easier; well done.
Saved a fortune rather than shipping one over from the States!!!!
what's the best angle to approach getting the gray buttons off? mine aren't popping off and i'm afraid to cause any damage...
Personally, I just levered mine straight up and they popped off. Looks like a previous owner had already had them off, as some were slightly damaged but not enough to cause them to fail! They also popped back on easy, too!!!! Just take your time and you shouldn't have any problems.
This forum rules! It helped me fix this same problem with the drivers side power window switch in my 2000 Grand Prix GT. Thanks for the great help!
hey guys, my window stopped working again. i repaired it like 3 months ago. Thanks again Mr Ferguson. anyways fixed it again and decided to take some pics while i had it off. so here they are... J_ferguson feel free to use em to update the walkthrough if you have the time or desire. (I noticed some were out of focus) also i've got the coupe, and im not sure if the switch plate is held on in the same way so theres some useful info there too. I have more pics pm me if you need em
my window isnt working like all these other ppl, im going to check this out and see if its this which is the probllem.
but i have another problem, my 2door d/s window is reverse for some reason, i press down to go up and up to go down. Anyone know why this might be and how i correct it????
Great write up - thanks for the help! I performed this operation today and so far has had the desired effect fixing window.
Only one problem, the driver side electric wing mirror has decided its not going to work now but the passenger side still responds fine, any ideas?![]()
Scrap that last message. Im still having an issue where the window will go down fine but sometimes the switch doesn't recognise when its being pushed to go back up. If I wait a second and then retry - it works...
I've tried silicon greasing the tracks as recommended by another post and I did this cleaning operation as well (for the record the contacts were filthy...)
Any ideas? Would love some help on this because i have to use it twice everyday to get in and out of my parking lot
Hey, I've been having the same problem too. I got a switch at pull a part and it works the same way, down fine and part way up then stops. My brother the cars previous owner told me that he's replaced the switch 2 or 3 times .. when I push the switch I can here a click ,click sound like the motor is trying to work. Could it still be the switch ? I just ordered a regulator/motor off Amazon a Dorman part it was $71 bucks. I'm thinking about taking the switch I got at the scrapyard and seeing if it will work after cleaning it.
Mark
Thank you
