I am looking at a 2001 grand prix gtp. the tranny is bad on it and the lady selling it doesn't know exactly what is wrong w/ it. my question is if any of the 90's Turbo grand prix trannys will match up to it? 0 Thanks, 0 Likes, 0 Dislikes
i dont believe they will i had a 1990 grand prix myself when i was 18 in the early 90's the grand prixs had a 3.1 multi-port injected engine with a substantially smaller automatic transmission...which in 1997 they upgraded the powertrain to a 3.8L....the 3.8L block is bigger which called for a redesigned transmission...one that could handle the power and torque from the 3.8...so the flywheel is bigger the torqu converter is bigger and the gears are ratioed out differently as well 0 Thanks, 0 Likes, 0 Dislikes
