Wow, Thats alot more that I wouldve thought. I personally never seen an auto WS6. Didnt think people getting the WS6 package would want an auto over a manual Granted im sure most of them came from the factory like that.

Honestly I don't understand why anyone would want a auto muscle car. It takes all the fun out of driving IMO, look at the Viper, never had an option for a Auto trans and it's sold plenty of numbers over the years.

But it wasn't up to me lol

I agree. Autos can be fun, IF and ONLY IF they are 6 speed and shift quickly and have the right gear ratios. The 4 speed GM throws in everything is a slush box with crap for gear ratios.

It depends on what your car has. If you have a 3ch axle (ABS only) and you want to swap in a 4Ch axle you either have to drill a hole in the top of the axle housing and install your ABS sensor out of your old rear or connect only one wheel speed sensor to the ABS. The 4ch rears have two wheel speed sensors (one on each axle shaft) as opposed to a 3Ch rear with only one speed sensor (on top of the diff in the housing).

To keep it simple, get an axle that matches your car. And make sure it has a limited slip (Auburn or Torsen is fine)

1998 - 2002 Camaro or Firebird. Anyway, do any companies make any aftermarket suspension regarding comfort and performance for these cars?

I hear these things ride rough.

Anybody have info on a 5.3 V8 to swap into one? Please let me know. It would be an awesome surprise.

Not that we support suggesting other forums, but since you are going to hijack the thread for your own. You'd likely better off searching through a F-body forum (LS1Tech) for these types of questions. The aftermarket is vast for them, but few people on this forum will know where to go or how to do the swap.

What I do know is, don't bother with a 5.3L swap, go for a LS1 5.7 swap. The change over is better and you'll have to get a LSx intake to fit, and you'd want the additional power.

Now back to rear ends.

Well its simple to find out if you have a 3ch rear or 4ch rear. Do you have TCS? If so then you have a 4ch rear, if not then its a 3ch. And swapping the rear isnt hard at all. I did it with my dad one saturday morning and was done before lunch time.

Got under and looked at it today. Been real busy and finally had a free night. Turns out what I've got is still pretty gorgeous, so I'm going to try and modify it instead of buying a whole new rear. Sadly, I'll save more money in the end for other things...Like a V8 :P

Good luck with the swap! Its pretty straight forward. If you arent doing it on a lift then Id recommend leaving the wheels on while taking the old one out as it makes it about 1000 times easier to get it out from under the car.
