Thread: Compressor PAG Oil

Hey folks, I am in need of a little help. I have a 2006 Grand Prix GXP and am going to be replacing the ac compressor (AC Delco 19418180). What is the proper PAG Oil for this? Thanks for any assistance you can give.

I just went through this on my 00 GT with a new Delphi compressor. I got conflicting info anywhere from 100 to 150. I finally just called the A/C shop and had them look it up for me. Came back as fill with PAG 150. So find a local A/C shop and give them a ring and ask to be sure.

Also, just changing the A/C compressor is not going to work. When you open a system you also need to change the orifice tube or expansion valve and also the accumulator/drier or the system may not work properly and could void the warranty on the new compressor. Just a heads up since I don't know how much A/C experience you have. Also be aware that there are different amounts of oil that are required to be in certain components at install. My new compressor came with far more oil in it than needed based on the amount that I got out of my old one, so I refilled the new one with the same amount as the old. Other parts treated the same.

Hopefully the GXP didn't blow up the compressor or there is more work to be done before just slapping a new compressor in.

Thank you. I do have a new expansion valve and orifice filter. Yes, hoping I don't have to replace the compressor. I will look into the accumulator/drier as well.
