http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...-Permanent-Fix this will cause it to leak, 8 dollar fix.
It is also possible (especially since you have water in the rear footwell too) that the butyl rubber sealant which holds the plastic weather liner to a metal door shell has shrunken over time or been improperly reinstalled. This can result in water coming over the sill trim from underneath the door trim panels and is easy to spot, and to fix with the door panel off. Theres a water flow path inside the door and the liner seal is important because the window trim does not stop water from flowing through the door. Check drain holes at bottom of door shells as well, and clear if clogged. I can tell everyone is getting rain like we have lately or worse. Lotsa water leaks!
I had the same issue. The fix that Scotty gave did the trick for me. Part is cheap and readily available on Amazon and eBay for under $10. You can add a cabin air filter at the same time if you like. The one from a Regal G's will fit.
I think this one of my issues because i have water on the drivers floor under the mat, carpet is wet all the way up to the point underneath the speaker in the door.
I did have water on the passenger side, on top of the mat. Put the water deflector under the cowl and passenger side has been dry!
if you park on a incline. like the back of the car is lower, the cowl leaks hits the front floor and travels to the rear, the body has openings so the water can travel to the rear no problem at all.
while it gets to the back it passes and floods the airbag module, so if the airbag light is on, you now know why.
installed the new deflector vaccumed the water now its still damp would a air mover help it to get dry

the foam holds a ton of water, even after you think you got it all out, i lifted my carpet up, propped up with some sticks, then had a box fan blowing on it to dry it up.
i also used baking soda to kill the pond smell you maybe getting already. rub it in the top and bottom of the carpet, use a shop vac to clean it up after its dry.
dont use your home vacuum, you might kill it, b/s is super fine and will get in places you dont want. car wash vacs work good for this clean up too.
just went and checked the foam underneath its wet going to buy that air mover and hopefully can dry it out
i took 2 days of the fan treatment on warm summer days.
my car got flooded in the winter time, i gutted the car and after i had removed as much as i could. hung the carpet in the garage, it took 2 weeks to drip dry.
