I think you linked the wrong video.
Custom cam? Hmmmmm... Lol
Sounds ok, loopy, wonder how it runs, because that's what it's all about, no? Otherwise we could all just install one of the V8 sounding thingy's into our sound system and save big $$$ hahahaha
Very good informative video. Watched a couple others of your's like the exhaust porting one. Looks like it may be time to step up to a bigger compressor. The air tools use quite a bit of cfm when in constant use. What size tank do you have, noticed when you started porting the speed dropped off quick and compressor kicked right on.
Thats why I don't do any porting at home, my tank is too small, now the compressor at work is a 120 gallon tank and our shop pressure is set at 155psi so constant use is no problem.
Chris just a heads up I will be needing a set of ported heads from you while Im heading overseas again the stock pile shall continue! You need cores or do you have some good ones available?
I'll be ready when you are brother. I'm usually on FB to market my porting. My email is chinson46@gmail.com if I happen to not be around on the forum during the time. I usually have cores, but I'm dry at the moment. If you end up having to ship yours to me, I'll recondition them for ya as a courtesy for the trouble.
Thanks so much
;-) I'm just being cocky man. Good luck with the build. As for mine, she ran awesome. Lots of usable power with a 115 Lobe separation angle. The idle was at 1200 in that vid lol. She's just plain rowdy.
Just looking for info to clean my heads up and I like the analogy of the hose as air and water do behave similarly, nice looking heads too, wow man very nice work indeed.
Thank you sir.Less is more. And favor the side closest to the center of the cylinder to help fish out some velocity. One of the hardest parts is keeping the port work consistent from runner to runner. Be careful to keep a good balance. It's a lot harder to explain than it is to show. Good luck brother
Someone once said to do small changes to each port , then go back and make another small change. That way you don't hog out the first port and by the time you get to the last you've worn out and didn't spend as much time on it.
I've seen your vids and I think their great! Thanks for sharing. If you want to learn something from a guy with over 25 years experience, check out https://m.youtube.com/user/HeadPorting
He is really giving away all the secrets. Lots of action shots. He takes heads to the max, breaking through runners intentionally lol. Would love to see what he could do with a 3800 head.
Yeah I do not have the time to actually port mine and honestly I plan to keep this thing closer to stock as possible, I am saving for a much bigger and better project, if I really wanted to have a fast car I would buy another LS fbody and do heads and cam and have a good daily driven mid 11 second car lol.
I used my VA benefits and went back to school 5 years ago and one of the classes I took was high performance engines and cylinder heads, we had a full machine shop at our disposal and one thing I learned working a set of old sbc 350 heads was watch the curves of the runners and do not over port, also watch water jackets lol you can ruin a nice set of heads quick if you don't watch the water jackets haha.
I have the pair I pulled off my l36. When I get time I'm gonna findbout exactly how far you can take these. I was cautious on my l67 heads, would like to know how over cautious I was. If I had a nice bandsaw I would cut these suckers in slices. A sonic checker would be cool too.
James posted nice sliced views of the l67 head on here , somewhere
