On Sunday I filled the tank on my wife's 2004 Grand Prix. On Monday somebody in a Tahoe ran a red light and slammed into her driver side fender, breaking the sub frame, totaling the car.
The insurance adjuster will be at our house Wednesday morning and before the wrecker shows up to take our car to the soup can factory, I want to siphon the fuel out of the car.
I know there is some sort of a ball in the tank or filler neck that prevents fuel from being siphoned with a simple hand pump.
what is the best way to recover the fuel from this wreck? Does it involve removing the filler tube from the tank and fishing the siphon hose in the tank from there? I also thought about pulling the fuel pump out through the access panel in the trunk, but I'd rather not crawl around the trunk.
Anybody ever have to recover fuel from an '04 Grand Prix?
Thanks.
