Hi Folks. My 2003 Grand Prix GT is slowly dying. I have the dreaded TRAC/ABS problems, plus the tranny is shot. Today I got a new warning light and have no idea what it is. It is left of the tach and is a circle with an arrow inside pointing down. I was thinking maybe TPMS but can find no reference to it in my manual or by searching this forum and the net. I was highway cruising when it came on.

    Thanks for any input!

    03's don't have TPMS, only 06+ do.

Not even sure what it is, I don't ever recall any dash light that is shaped like that.

It would be very helpful to get a picture of this light. then maybe someone can be of service to you.

Check your coolant level. I believe that is the low coolant indicator.

Thanks for all the replies folks. I will check the coolant tomorrow.
When I saw the comment "replace transmission" I thought, well of course. And then I thought, hey wait a minute...

Glad you knew I was joking. My brother and I used to refer to the check engine light as the replace engine light. Thought it could work for a transmission joke.

I checked the coolant level via the overflow tank. The level is actually higher than it should be when cold, but FAR from the top. I have to take it out in the morning for a meeting so I will get a pic if the symbol is still there or comes back.

Trust me, if this car had a transmission warning system it would be flashing and squealing. Tranny shop said t it needed a rebuild in the middle of Nov. I have been babying it ever since. I drive by the tach. Always under 3500RPM. I am going up some hills in slow motion. I expect a loud bang (or perhaps it will go with a whimper) in the next few weeks. At that time I will get it towed home and sell it as a parts car.

Shane D, who would LOVE to know what that gauge refers to...

Trans shop told me I needed a new trans in my black car in September of 2010, I lost 4th gear in January of 2012.

Mystery solved. I got the pic down to 22K but it is still 7k too big to post.
Anyway, the warning light to the left of your tach (circle with an arrow pointing down inside) is notice that you are low on gas.

    Thanks for all the replies!

    PS: Shrunk it againwarning.jpg
