Hi, I have a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GT and have recently realized that both ends of my sway bar are broken where it connects to the end links. The broken piece is still on the sway bar but it is angled to the side. This picture is close to what it looks like.

Do I need to replace my sway bar right away? How serious is this? Will I be fine for a while like until spring? Thanks in advance.

Yeah just swap it out. You could drive it like that forever if you wanted. Handling will not be as good though.

How would I replace this? I know how to disconnect everything up to when some people say on grand prixs that you have to lower the engine carriage to get the sway bar out? How do I do this? Thanks

It's easy to do. Pull the end links or cut them off, take one rear subframe bolt out then restart it a few threads then do the same thing to the other sf bolt, take the brackets off, pull sway bar through the side, put back together in reverse order.

Attached to the subframe. You'll see them if you look under the car.

Also, to avoid this issue from happening again and getting an upgrade at the same time, grab the Dorman sway bar from RockAuto and throw in some new Moog endlinks. The Dorman bar is thicker and a solid bar vs. the hollow stock bar.

My sway bar is like that at both ends as well lol. I just left it for now, it doesn't seem to affect it much but it's going to break soon. I agree with the dorman bar/moog links, great combo. It's the cheapest on amazon for $83.91, ebay used to have it for $75 shipped at one point. The sub frame bolts are 18mm and easy to point out, they must be lowered in most cases with the new dorman bar. I just lowered it like 2 inches and I was able to get the new bar in, keep a jack under the sub frame though so you don't go too far.
