Hi guys, 2001 GT. Thought my drivers side brake light was out so stopped at Advance for a bulb. Bulb lights but only half as bright as passenger side. Same thing with back up bulb, comes on in reverse but only half as bright as right side. I'm thinking bad ground, anybody know where it is offhand before I start digging in?

I would start with checking grounds and connectors.

Probe it with volt meter. Could be dirty socket, bad ground connection, or partially broken wiring.

Do you have condensation inside that taillight? If so I'd bet the bulb sockets are all corroded. Happened on my 00GT. Replaced the taillight assembly with a good one and clean up the bulb sockets and all is well. They were not only wet, but very green with corrosion.

Dim bulbs definitely sounds like a poor ground situation. I have had the issue myself on other cars in the past.

Anybody know offhand where that harness grounds at? The wire loom heads across to the right side running behind the bumper cover....
