So my stock pump decided that it just wasn't feeling like keeping up anymore. Car is a 01 gt officially so I figured ok this will be easy buy a non venturi pump and life is good. Picked up a AEM E85 320lph pump off of zzp and once it came in started the install. All was well untill I started taking the canister apart and discovered a venturi canister..... Turns out back when I was 15 and first got the car I had to change canisters (Old one snapped off in the tank for whatever reason) and I put a venturi canister and pump in. Well ****........
Looked at it and decided to give it a try. Cut that weird rubber grommet thing at the bottom of the stock pump to fit my aem pump and it all fit ok. Didnt touch the canister AT ALL. Had to use rubber line because the new flexible corrugated line was impossible to get on. Crimped and heat shrinked and then heat shrinked again all the wires. Installed the new level sensor and put it all back in.
Been driving the car a week now and had it down well into the empty range and all the way up to full and haven't had any issues yet. Am I some magic mechanic or is it really that easy to put a non venturi pump in?
