The high-pressure valve on the air conditioner of my 01 Grand Prix started leaking and needs to be replaced. Unfortunately the Schrader valve is not replaceable on the high-pressure side. The entire Evaporator Tube Assembly must be replaced. I got the part (Amazon) and started to disassemble but can't seem to figure out how to pull it out without pulling the engine first. There's a coupling that is located under the break booster but I can't get any tool I own on it to take it apart. Has anyone ever tackled this job before? Need help.

    Thanks.

    It's possible, sucks, but possible.

Go in through the wheel well and undo the 2-3 10mm nuts holding the ABS bracket to the strut tower. Unbolt the master from the booster and let the hoses flex, then work with the abs/master loose and you can get in there. I said it sucks, so don't expect any roses for happiness until it's all back in place.

Thanks. I found a thread for replacing the orifice tube and saw the pictures you posted for that. For my specific situation, I also had to remove the throttle body. I did the L36 to L26 mod back at the first of the year and the TB was in the way. I worked the tube as far forward as I could and was able to finally get the d**n thing apart and out. Putting the new one in was much worse. Not a job I'd ever want to do again. Sorry, but I didn't take pictures this time.

Only reason I have those pics was to prove out how crappy it was. Glad to hear you had success. Meanwhile..I hope you had the beer chilled, knowing it was gonna suck.
