Seeing more of these twin 3800 projects pop up is heartwarming.
My friend, James (@turbocharged400sbc) has a twin engine Oldsmobile Cutlass project. You may enjoy trading information with him.

Pffft, I bet the mileage is gonna suck with two engines and the additional weight jaja.

Great project, I've personally never seen anything like it.

Ok project twin engine gtp is resumed until further notice

Today we finished the suspension set up and wheel alignment. There is a little issue with the toe when suspensin compresses but we know what to do for that.

Tomorrow we will start reenforcing the structure for the additional stress involved with two engines

glad to see yer back in the saddle

btw to fill you in a little, a bit of convo with some chassis guys has found us twin transverse drivetrain guys severely screwed, we have really no way to make the drivetrain/differential tq work for us, the only real options to increase traction & prevent the nose rise/ass squat is to lower the CG and move it forward. any anti dive/rise we build into the suspension could have more drawbacks than gains.

drop as much weight above axle centerline as possible and near the cg. the best move over that is to move the cg "forward" with traction bars.

to that end the battery is now going behind the seats, swaybar relocated forward on the rear cradle and moved underneath. the clean sheet chassis will ditch the rear radiator in favor of the coolant flowing through the lower tubular chassis to the front radiator.
as much as it would be nice to move it towards the middle, the fuel cell is staying all the way at the back lol

Yes, I have been thinking on how to counter all the mass as each end of the car as well as trying to reduce the weight transfer to the back.

The way I see it, without significant changes, the forward engine will have little effect on the acceleration in the 1st 300 feet of the race due to the squatting and front wheels having very little weight on them.

I have set up the suspension with a lot of preload to help with this. Once everything will be working and testing will start I will use as stiff of a shock/spring set up that I can at the back and very stiff shocks up front. I will try and limit the travel possible at the back.

I will not be street friendly or have nice driveability around a track, but it should be a good track machine.

I also thought of going with standard summer/sticky tires at the back and full slicks up front to have a more equal traction on each engine/trans combo.

Just run 10.5×28 drags front and rear. Give your poor transmissions a fighting chance at least.

How would a tall sticky tire help the transmission ?
