I have a 97 gtp. I noticed a few months ago that when I put my car in reverse and roll a couple feet my car makes kind of a crunch sound then nothing. I get out of my driveway put the car in drive and everything is fine. Doesn't make the sound after rolling forward. It only makes the sound after the car has been sitting in park for awhile and seems to only happen after i reverse a few feet, not immediatly when the car starts moving. I noticed the passenger side CV boot was torn so I figured replacing the shaft would be a solution. So last weekend we changed both shafts out. It didn't seem to make the noise anymore after the swap, but after driving it for awhile I noticed the noise came back. I've been busy for the past week so I haven't messed with it until a little bit ago when I got off work and decided to do some investigating. Checked it out and it looks like all the grease has been pushed out of the inner boot on the passenger side. I felt all around it and the boot doesn't appear to be torn anywhere but its definatly fresh grease.
I'm pretty stumped as to what is going on. I'm going to try seeing if the axle nut or wheel nuts are loose later when it stops raining but I don't think thats the issue. I'm starting to suspect it could be a bad hub assembly bearing has something to do with it but i really don't know.
If any one has an idea please help!!!
