Scottydogs, did you throw away the part of your gasket that broke off?
|
i watch helplessly it as it fell into the front of the engine, never to be found.
like i said, it leaked with out that part of the gasket under the snout, so i pulled that bolt, and smeared rtv all over it, it held for 2 years, and would have held longer.
some cars leak, some dont from this area. it has no reason to leak, but mine did and a few other guys had the same issue, its rare.
You wont be able to see from the pics. I took a QTip and wiped around the bottom edge of the lim and there was like some grayish color. I'm thinking it might not be leaking after all!

I wiped around the lim after about 15 minutes of driving. It was kinda slimy but I wiped it off and this is all there was.
if you spray brake cleaner all over, it will get rid of any oil residue, check the fluid level, if its full still drive it some more, then see if any oil forms around the snout on the lim.
Ok I'll try the brake cleaner. I've wiped it with a napkin twice and it seems to stay slick so ill try that when I get home. I'm not gonna worry about it even if its a slow leak.
