Has anyone tried a 90 degree bend to fit a longer filter on 02 GTP ? Or would the bend hinder airflow going from a 7" straight , to longest that will fit in there ? I haven't taken factory air box out yet, still purchasing parts.I have the JMB set up. Thanks.

I would definitely keep it straight. The straighter you intake is the less air flow restriction you'll have. Bends in anything (like exhaust) cause restrictive flow. You potentially could get colder denser air by doing that, but the balance of that and restriction might not be worth it. Most people stick with ram air, but I have like a foot and a half straight intake and it roars

A lot have.. many of the kits available have a bend.

Dont need much, but the 90* elbow might be too much.
This is 45*, a rubber coupling, two clamps and filter = done!

Very nice, i meant bend inside fender so I might be able to use a longer filter than a straight one, straight = 7 " until it bottoms out to inside of outer fender.

I am using a tight cast aluminum 90 in mine. I have no engineering experience or anything but it seems to me, especially on a big 4" pipe, having a stubby little air filter is going to be more restrictive than a 90* bend with a monster filter. Plus I found this article about airflow through bends with different size piping. It seems to show that a 90* bend such as my 4" cast radiused pipe is only minimally restrictive. In fact, as long as im reading that right, it shows that a smooth 90* bend is one of the most efficient ways to change the direction of airflow. http://www.donaldson.com/en/engine/s...ary/034973.pdf
Who knows...try it out and see if you like it, its just a intake.
