What does it mean when the info message center says " Charging system failure " ??? Car drives fine and when driving the volts stay at 14-15 the whole time.

No electronics runnig other than stock radio. So maybe im getting an overcharge is why im getting that message on my DIC. Because my volts are def. going above 15. Gets up to like 15.4 i think

Mine did that for a couple months. Then one day it didn't start. Got new battery, no more problems.

I had the same thing, except my DIC doesn't show volts. With a DMM I found I was hitting around 16.5 volts. This was after I'd replaced the battery because it was getting weak. Replaced the alt and all was good. A mechanic once told me that batteries and alternators tend to go together. Either one being bad can ruin the other.

Loose Ground near the battery is what caused mine to do the same.

    Houston we have a problem.

Too big a coincidence that I was watching some guys rebuild an "Apollo Guidance Computer" and the power supply actually generated a "Main Bus B Undervolt". Then the next day my 07 GXP on the way home from work started generating all sorts of alarms.

It first stated with "Charging system failure". I have seen this before, which we get me to the question in a second, so I did not pay much attention expecting it to just go away. Next thing I know, I there is the "Saving battery shutting down systems". Air conditioner shutting off. Then it went to turning off the Active Traction Control, and ABS. Then I had more alarms (Lights) going off then Apollo 13. I was sweating both literally and figuratively. I did get it home and the alternator was bad. There may not be many Starter/Alternator shops out there anymore, but OKC is blessed to have two of them. These shops are kind of like BBQ places, the more dingier and hole in the wall the better. :-) I just like getting my alternator back rebuilt than getting a unknown one from parts store. And it is literally half the cost.
One other note that will work into the question. While the car battery was draining to nothing, I switched the DIC to battery voltages.

Moving toward the point, I have search the internet on the title of this post a lot. Seems to be broken down into the obvious parts. You have the alternator, battery, current sensor, and grounds.

The reason I did not pay that much attention is it seems every GP I have had has flashed that message, rev the engine, and it goes away. For me it seems to happen when the weather is really hot. I have seen some posts when it was really cold. Also, been watching the battery voltage now and it sometimes starts at 14.4 and after driving some will drop to 13.2-13.7. Since I have never watched this before not sure if it is normal. I did press return this morning when the "Charging System Failure" message popped up. Since I have been leaving the DIC on battery voltage, I saw 13.something flash, and it went to 14.something. I did get the part number this morning from the current sensor this morning and will follow up with a dealer to check if I have the right one vs the VIN. I saw some post talk about measuring the voltage, there are three (White, Green, Red) wires. Does anyone know which does what?

Pulling back the curtains, wort and all, yes it is dirty, but the terminals are clean. I cleaned them and charged the battery before the new alternator.
