Not to jack this thread but question I got is similar. A buddy of mine has a Pontiac...I think a g6 and he lost his key so went and had one made. But is there a way for him to program it without dealership? It'll start but cuts off shortly after because of the security.

a good auto locks smith can cut a key and program it for 1/2 the dealers price, or less.

yeah, if he had the master key you can program other keys. If not Tech 2 all the way. i went in to have new keys cut and fobs programmed, they told me that my fob wouldnt hold the learn after they unplugged the tech 2. So i got 2 keys cut programmed for free!
