First off let me start by saying dont buy a 98 grand prix!! haha well i love my car but i have found so many things different and harder to do compared to 99 and above... anyways i was thinking of getting a K&N air intake but the thing is they dint make one fore the 98 because the coolant recovery tank is in the way. ok simple fix right? yeah just go buy a 99 coolant tank and hoses, but to save a little money i have heard of making one... i was recomended the biggest NOS (energ drink) bottle i could find drill a hole in the cap and run a small hose/tube into it. was told NOS because its a hard bottle so it wont crunch from any vacum there might be. so save a little money and add some style points lol

has anyone else heard of doing this? let me know or comment on the idea!

No never heard of it but i suppose it might work. Imo i would just go to the bone yard an get one an do it the right way. Shouldn't be that expensive and it will look alot better and that way you wont have to custom fab mounts and your tank itself. If you want a brand new tank its gonna cost you around 40 from pfyc, intense, or somewhere like that. You may even be able to just have your local autostore get you one. You will also need the white lower fastener that the bottom of the tank sits on if its not already on your car i'm not sure. Look down next to your belts it will be sticking out down on the left if its there. Heres a link to what you are looking for to see if you already have the fastener. If you get one from the junk yard, make sure you get the lower mounting piece, I didnt get it and I had to make mine stay planted to the fender with gorilla glue!

Ewwww....there is already a through hole there. Just stick a bolt through it with a large washer! I had one around the garage and used it. But even if you had to go and buy one at the local hardware store, it would cost like $.58 And then it is much easier to get out when you need to.
