Anyone have experience with a leaking coolant recovery tank? After every time I drive I notice small splatters of coolant around the tank hose, fuse panel, etc. I already replaced the recovery tank hose and a new clamp,.. so I'm thinking the tank itself has a small crack or something...never heard of one of these breaking before...

You sure it isn't leaking from somewhere else onto the belt?

You sure your new hose doesn't have a pin hole or a hairline slice? I had to replce my hose due to a hairline slice. Couldn't see it without twisting the hose but you could smell the burning coolant an it was steaming out from under my hood just a little only way i noticed was the smell and steam coming out around my headlight when i was out an parked with the car running

Did you check the plastic coolant elbow on the intake manifold? When that starts to leak, it'll spray out in that general area.
I doubt it's the overflow hose. You shouldn't normally be pressurizing the hose, unless your radiator cap is bad. Look under the hood while revving the engine. You might be able to see it spray out as pressure builds in the system.

...or, even might check the heater core hoses that attach to the alternator bracket. One local recently had the o-ring under the fitting go out, and was spraying coolant out.
Could also be your water pump. Check the back side of the pulley to see if its wet, as when these start to leak/fail, they will leak out of the seal on the shaft behind the pulley. As you drive, it flings the coolant everywhere.

I have been driving/checking the car all weekend, and have seen no more "splatters". No signs of coolant leaking, or any other leaks for that matter. Maybe it wasn't coolant at all?? I mean, there wasn't much to begin with, just 3-4 small specks of something I noticed on the coolant recovery hose kinda just under the s/c snout. I guess I just assumed it was coolant because of the location.
...and I wanted to take care of it fast if it was a coolant leak.

Well I noticed a few more drops of something leaking around the overflow tank hose again, and around the fuse panel. this time I looked really close with a flashlight, had the car at 3000 rpms,...
It almost looks like there are tiny drops of oil flying out of the end of the supercharger, but you only can see it at higher rpms. Is there a seal at the tip of the supercharger that can go bad, and how would I replace it?

Where can I buy a new coolant overflow tank for a 2000 gt?
Mine is all sludgy, I don't need a hose but just in case where can I get a new overflow hose as well?

I think that is exactly the tank I need. They say it's for a '97 and '98, advertise for a '99 but then it says it will fit '97-'03. That's confusing so I'll email the Co. and see what they say.
I think you just resolved my issue now I need to buy it and get that sludge out of it...it's been too long.

It is for use on the 97's and 98's to relocate the stock original one(which is located on the drivers side next to the radiator from the factory) so that there is room for a cold air intake if you wanted to put one in. I think from 99-03 that this is where they located it from the factory if that helps you out as far as the description goes.

This is normal. There is an expansion port in the blower shaft, and the shaft itself is hollow, with the porous breather nut at the end. This is designed to allow oil or air to escape when the thing heats up and cools down. If you recently changed your blower oil, it was likely overfilled slightly, and will splatter out a little, until the proper level is reached.
Even if the blower oil was not recently serviced, small droplets coming out is normal, especially if the breather nut is no longer in place on the supercharger shaft.

I just got an email from pyfc (in response to Liquifire's response) and they told me "Yes" this tank will fit the '97-'02.

I have the same problem as the OP. I recommend you take your recovery tank off and check it. I just removed mine and it appears that the bottom nut had come loose/been removed and this has caused the bottom of the reservoir to rub against the belts and has caused a hole to be worn away in the bottom left of the reservoir. now my only problem is I cant seem to locate a replacement part can anyone help me? I have the 04 grand prix gt1 3.8l
