Hey everyone, new to the forum...looking forward to speaking with you all.

Anyways, just swapped out my trans last week on my '04 Grand Prix GT2 because my old one took a ****. Putting everything back together to this point has been a breeze, but the main issue I'm having is with the starter. I have the positive cable from the battery running to the solenoid, the negative ground, and the two wires off the harness connected to the starter. Problem being, every time that I go to connect the battery, my alarm goes off for a split second (rather than continuing chirping until is disarmed. It's aftermarket, if you haven't guessed yet) and the engine makes a quarter turn and then nothing. The key isn't even in the ignition, so I know I'm wired wrong somewhere.

    Any input is extremely helpful!!

the ground dont go to the starter, the 3 grounds go to the stud on a bolt, in the trans bell housing.

bolting the starter on grounds it.

Right, that's how I have it currently. I should have explained that a bit better. The negative coming from the battery is grounded to the bell housing on the trans, as well as two other grounds. I have the positive from the battery connected to the solenoid on the starter, in addition to the two connections that come from the harness. I definately have something wrgon though... Soon as the I connect the battery, it jogs, and the stops. And then I have no power anywhere.

were the 2 small wires on the same stud on the starter? if not, like they were one on each, swap them around.

Based on what I recall, yes. The small purple wire went to a stud of its own on the solenoid. Then the other three wires went to the other stud on the solenoid. When I had the battery still connected, I'd touch the wires to the posts on the solenoid to find out if they needed to be there. One of them didn't show any indication, but the other turned on the primer.
