I lost a socket and then found it right after shutting the hood. It snapped the hood prop and a replacement wont arrive for the next 3-5 days. It still latches with the hood latch but the hood doesn't go all the way down and leaves a nice 1.5 to 2.5 inch gap (2.5 gap at headlights) I think it might be pretty safe to drive on normal road but I am just worried about the highway speeds. Is there going to be too much air going under the hood?

The hood prop has nothing to do with latching the hood. If the hood is not on both latches DO NOT DRIVE IT. YOUR HOOD WILL END UP IN YOUR WINDSHIELD!!!!!!

Hood prop is what would hold your hood open. The latch would be what holds it shut. If you are speaking of the prop being broken then you should be able to drive it without a problem. If its the latch I second not driving it. Gap at headlights make me think youre speaking of the latch.

Its the hood prop on the drivers side. I was talking about the hood latch in the center of the hood is connected. I can't open the hood without opening the latch but I cannot push the hood down the whole way. Right now it looks as if the latch from inside the car was pulled (gah too many latches -__-) but its open much wider on the drivers side which has the broken prop.

If the hood prop is stopping the hood from closing remove it.

I dont think the hood prop is stopping it from closing, I can push the hood down without any restriction but it just doesnt stay down.

Also ignore the spray can flat black and bra -_____-

Lift your hood. Have someone grab your hood release and try to move the release lever. Then try to shut it again. Slam it if you have to.

By prop do you mean the hood shock? Because most of the 97-03 gps do not have hood props.
