I have an odd problem.
First about the car. Its a 2001 Grand Prix GTP with manual dual zone climate control.
A couple months ago i charged the ac (which only worked for 2 weeks before it all leaked out again) and it was only blowing cold on the passenger side. So of course what i do every time i have a problem is search like crazy for a fix before asking questions. I found a very common problem with these cars is blend door actuator failure. So i twisted myself all crazy like to pull the drivers actuator out. It was missing one of the three screws so it was probably replaced before. And it was working fine. I also manually moved the blend door which feels like it has a full range of unrestricted motion. So I put it back together and read somewhere that if the ac charge is low it blows warmer on the drivers side. Doesnt make sense to me but whatever. So now its getting cold and im using the heat in the morning. And yup its cold on the drivers side and warm on the passenger.
The only thing i can think of is now the blend actuator died after i put it back in or the blend door itself is snapped in half. Like part of the door is still attached so it feels like its fine when i move it manually but a chunk is gone.
I figured id ask first before pulling the actuator again because i really dont want to do that.
Everything i find in searching is about the actuator. But like i said i already pulled it and it works.
Any ideas before i am forced to check it again?
