The struts on the 2000 GTP are well due for a replacement. There is excessive pogoing, and just terrible suspension cushioning all around. I'm probably going to get the KYB GR2s, as I'm not looking for any kind of performance suspension.

What is the best way to tell if I also need new springs? The car is around 170k, and I honestly don't know if the springs have ever been replaced. I don't want to replace them if it's not necessary though.

I was planning on getting new mount plates, and possibly the anti-pogo washers from ZZP unless you guys think those are a waste.

    Thanks,
    Steve

Anti pogo's are subframe washers. Don't overpay. If you stick with stock height, then you don't need them. Definately do the mounts.

Springs..most people never replace the stock springs unless they are lowering. You can likely do fine on your stockers.

Something many don't consider is Quickstrut assemblies usually use the weaker springs. Some W bodies actually came with the better/stiffer springs. You'd be downgrading if you replaced with softer.

Shoot didn't know that must admit thought I like the way mine rides but then again the old struts and springs had 300,000 miles so anything would have probably made an improvement

Any preference, or anything to look out for with regards to the mounts?

I was looking at the KYB mounts SM5568, SM5398/9 from here: 2000 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX Strut Mount

Don't get the KYB Mounts, really the only good ones I've found for this platform are Monroe's. Also you might as well get new springs while you are in there, I have seen a handful of them break and the extra $120 is worth the piece of mind to me.

Get the monroe strut mounts. KYB does make a set of quick struts as well. From what I have read, the complain of the monroes is that they are too soft. If you want to avoid the infamous ass sag, you could invest in some intrigue springs to raise the rear where it should be.

The pricing I found for the KYB quick struts were around $160/ea for the GTP. That definitely puts it a good bit higher than the ~$360 I was going to do for the struts and plates. It would be nicer to just throw in the whole assembly, but that's still a significant amount more.

Also, do the KYB struts come with bellows, or do I need to get some of those as well?

That works, I mean it is a little quicker to do those, but if you were or are willing to purchase seperatly you can get a new strut mount and spring cheaper and with better parts.
