Ok now that the problem with the electric fan is now fixed. I need to find out if the loud lifters can be adjusted or do I need to replace the heads on it.

I bought the car for $610 2 weeks ago and was told that the coolant temp light goes on but its a false light and nothing wrong with the car and it had loud lifters.
I soon found out that the electric fan didn't work and was solved in my first question on this site.

Now to fix what has happened to the engine with no electric fan running to cool the antifreeze runing through the engine.

The car has lots of power but you can hear the lifters a bit. I was wondering if there was a way to adjust them or will I have to replace them, or should I just get a pair of rebuilt heads with new cams.

Remember I'm on a limited budget here.

The car is a 1992 Grand Prix with a 3.1L engine and has 99200 miles now on it.

Well I can tell you the lifters/valves are not adjustable. The lifters are roller hydraulic lifters. Also, you sure its a lifter and not maybe some piston slap?

    Not sure.
I found out I can't trust the word of a salesman at the car dealer I got the car from.
He lied to me on all sorts of issues with the car and now feels that i got it for short money so he dont need to help out with any of the safety issues with the car to pass inspection here in Massachusetts.

Thats unfortunate that they have done you that way. Depending on what your budget is, perhaps it would be worth doing an L67 swap or even an L36 swap.

All 3.1's have nosiey lifters thats the way that the 60 V6 engines are but you could also be hearing the injectors working as well instead of the lifters or they could be combined into the same sound.
