    On idle sometimes i hear a metal shafing sound but it goes away when i turn on the ac it goes away, is this my a/c clutch or what and i can kind of smell electrical burning.

    happened to me before i took the belt off and sprayed wd-40 on the AC compressor that noise went away never came back but now my AC compressor is going. probably not from what i did. take your belts of check all the pulleys

    Sounds like your compressor its in rough shape.
    98 GTP modded 1.9's, sd headers, 3.4", zzp 1.0 230K miles scrapped.

    I'v had this problem on a 96 olds cutlass. I also sprayed WD40 on the compressor and It would quiet down. I ended up changing the compressor, it worked fine but it was shaving metal and loud.

    yup. compressor on its way out. what your hearing is probably the a/c clutch when it is dissengaged. once the a/c is turned on it connects the clutch to the pulley which operates the compressor which causes the sound to stop.
    Green Comp G. Headers. Intake. Tune. Pulley. Intercooled.

    Mine actually gets louder when I turn the AC on
    2004 Ivory White Pontiac Grand Prix GT1 - Bone Stock and my 80 mile daily driver.
