I have an 04 GTP...
Traction control was acting funny for a couple of days. I would get in the car and the light would be on the cluster, telling me that TC was off. While I was driving, the light would turn off, then I would hear the beep as it comes back on - it would go on and off on and off, especially during the first few minutes that I was driving the car - then never heard anything again at highway speeds.
After those two days passed, the light never came on again and I assumed that the traction control was on and problem somehow worked itself out...
Until... I was sitting in traffic and decided that I might as well multitask and wipe down the center console area. In cleaning, I hit the TC button and was shocked when I didn't hear the beep that always follows, letting me know the TC is off. - nothing at all. I hit it again... Nothing... again and again.... nothing.
SO... Either the TC is stuck ON... which seems most likely because no lights are popping up - and lights on the dash will only tell you when it is OFF...
OR... it is just insane and the button is broke? Something in the button was causing it to turn on and off? on and off? ... like some kind of short or something? and now with the TC on the button is officially broken, and incapable of turning the TC off?
I'm confused!!!...
I guess one way to find out if it is on or off is to step on the gas and see what kind of chirp I get... I always got a nice sweet one with TC on... and an over-dramatic one when it was off.
Perhaps I'll try that tomorrow.
ANYWAY - anyone experience such issues with their TC?
I know the TC we had in the Grand Am was junk.
